There are constantly scams to look out for when you are abroad and the reality of it is that you will always be a target as a tourist, so learning and doing your research on what each area’s risks are will ensure you and your things are protected at all times.
This also means picking accommodations that might be women only or with lockers for you to safely leave your things. You want to be able to come and go from place to place with the same things that you arrived with so take the necessary measures to do so.
All that being said, learning some of the essential native languages will always work in your favour; it’s not only the bare minimum but it can also help you form bonds with the locals and allow you to feel less like an outsider.
